About STM

Fred Klink Scientific Training and Marketing (STM) was founded in 1997 by Fred Klink. STM offers uniquely practical continuing education and consulting services for analytical laboratories. Professional continuing education is available via standard course offerings or customized to suit the specific needs of individual clients. Both US and international organizations have taken advantage of these services.

Fred is also a member of a team of top professionals in the analytical field who have co-developed several highly-rated technical continuing education courses in modern mass spectrometry. The continuing popularity of these courses as both public offerings and private, in-house presentations for more than ten years is a testament to the quality and currency of the course content. These courses were presented for many years as part of the curriculum of the American Chemical Society’s continuing education program. Beginning in 2007, an expanded schedule of these same courses will be presented through the sponsorship of LC Resources, Inc. LC Resources was founded in 1984 by John Dolan and Lloyd Snyder and has been a leader in HPLC continuing education for more than twenty years. The addition of courses taught by Fred and his colleagues expands LC Resources offerings into the important fields of LC/MS, GC/MS and proteomics. Click on Continuing Education in the menu bar for more detailed descriptions of these courses.

Fred received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Northwestern University and his MS in forensic analytical chemistry from University of Illinois, using fluorescence tags to explore immunological profiles of blood. After graduate school, Fred went to work for Varian, first as a life sciences applications chemist and later as product manager and eventually marketing manager for HPLC and chromatography data system products. This experience gave him a very practical view of what the analytical scientist needs to make his work easier, faster, more accurate, and more cost-effective. This has carried over into Fred's practical, problem-solving approach to training and consulting.
